E. Louis McClellan Obituary
1919 ~ 2013
E. Louis McClellan passed away at the age of 94 on August 16, 2013, in Sandy, Utah. He was born on May 13, 1919 in Payson, Utah to Joseph Earl McClellan and Lois Elizabeth Hurst McClellan. He graduated from Payson High School in 1938. Louis married Ruth Anderson in the Salt Lake Temple on September 19, 1940. Ruth passed away in 1999.
During World War II, Louis joined the Army Air Corps and served from 1943 until 1945. He attended Brigham Young University from 1949 to 1953. He was a Boy Scout Field Executive in Southern Utah and Southern California. In 1962 he returned to Utah where he worked for BYU and for the LDS Church. Louis enjoyed nature and the beautiful State of Utah. He loved being a member of the LDS Church and served in various callings. He was a temple worker for many years at the Provo Temple. Music was a passion of his and he was blessed with a great deal of musical talent; his wonderful baritone voice contributed to many choirs and stage productions during his lifetime, and he passed on that talent to a number of his children and grandchildren.
He was also passionate about family history and his Scottish heritage. For many years he attended the Payson Scottish Festival and ran the McClellan Clan booth. In 2005 he realized a lifelong dream when he was able to visit Scotland.
Louis loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren. He is survived by his four children: Jay (Dee) McClellan of Sandy, Utah; Linda (Steve) Auger of Morrison, Colorado; Gary (Julie) McClellan of West Linn, Oregon; and Sylvia (LaRell) Nielson of Nacogdoches, Texas. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren, who will always remember his handsome smile and distinguished white hair.
The family appreciates the wonderful care given by Our House Sandy East and Our House Sandy Central. We are also grateful for Access Hospice Care and Mary Kay Murray's thoughtfulness.
Services will be held on August 24, 2013 at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main Street in Lehi, Utah. A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Payson City Cemetery.
