Eldon Harry Furse Obituary
1925 ~ 2014
Eldon Harry Furse, 89, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend passed away August 16, 2014 due to natural causes.
He was born March 24, 1925 to E. Harry and LaRue Seager Furse in Salt Lake City. He was raised in the Sugar House area and graduated from West High. Eldon was a member of the LDS Church. He was a proud World War II veteran, having served in Battle of the Bulge with the 75th Infantry Division where he earned a Purple Heart. Upon returning home Eldon met Shirley Butterfield at the Coconut Grove dance hall. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 8, 1948. Eldon operated the Blue Cottage Ice Cream store for 23 years in Salt Lake and was later employed as a maintenance supervisor and self-employed handyman. Being a member of the Swanee Singers male chorus for 35 years brought him much enjoyment.
Eldon enjoyed spending time with his close friend Jean Dalebout, being together with family at their cabin, fishing, and traveling, always with a camera in hand.
Survived by his children, Dennis (Brenda), Janna (Steve) Anderson, Roger (Wendy), 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Shirley, daughter Susan and grandson Trent. We love you and will miss you...till we meet again.
Viewing held Thursday August 21, 6-8 PM at the Midvalley 1st Ward, 1050 East Chapel Hill Drive, Midvale, UT. Funeral services held at the same location Friday August, 22 at 11:00 AM with a viewing prior 9:30-10:30 AM. Interment at Wasatch Lawn, Salt Lake City. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.
