Gary Darvel Peterson, 74, of Salt Lake City, UT passed away on February 18, 2014 after a long illness. He was born May 15, 1939 in Santaquin, UT to Darvel and Lila Peterson. Gary grew up in Santaquin, Utah and graduated from Payson High School. He married Trudy Boswell (deceased) on February 2, 1962 and together they had three boys, Gregg, Scott and Cash. Married Barbara Darling on May 4, 2003.
Gary graduated from High School and enlisted the United States Air Force where he worked as a mechanic. He joined Continental Agency Company and worked as an accountant in the insurance industry for 40 years. Gary enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, boating/fishing and attending University of Utah athletic events. He was a great husband, father and friend. Gary always supported his boys while growing up; attending not only games, but most practices as well. Many Sundays were spent with the family boating at Utah Lake in the morning and 18 holes of golf at Willow Creek in the afternoon. He was part of the "Sweet Sixteen"; the "Dawn Patrol" at Willow Creek and he enjoyed all of the friendships he established over the years.
Gary is survived by his wife Barbara; sons, Scott (Natalie) Peterson and Cash (Carrie) Peterson; daughters Rishelle (Jason) Cordner and Danielle Darling-Moe; five grandchildren, Abigail, Claire, Jessie, Emma and Kaela. He is preceded in death by his first wife Trudy, son Gregg, and parents.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 25th at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary (3401 S. Highland Drive) with a visitation period from 10:30 to 11:15 followed by a brief funeral service. Interment will immediately follow at the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery (500 N. Main Street). Good friends and family are invited to a celebration of Gary's life at Willow Creek Country Club from 5-7 PM that evening.
