Gilbert Reed Crookston Obituary
Oct. 19, 1930 ~ Aug. 15, 2014
On August 15th our wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend left us to continue his eternal journey. We will miss him greatly. His example of selflessness, kindness and outward love for anyone he met will forever be remembered.
Reed was born to Spencer and Josephine Crookston October 19, 1930 in Dayton, ID. He was next to the youngest of seven children. In 1954 he married Barbara Waddoups. On September 4, they would have celebrated 60 amazing years. Together they had five children: Robert (Katherine), Keith (Ava), Pamela (deceased), Kevin (Vera) and Troy (Linda) Crookston. He was a wonderful grandfather to 10 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 16 great-grandchildren. He taught his family to work hard and love life. He loved to be outside camping, fishing or spending time in his garden. He loved every person and animal he met.
Reed served in the Army during the Korean War for 3 years. Then attended Steven-Henager College where he received his Accounting Degree. For the next 33 years he worked at Motor Cargo Truck Company.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 20th, 10:00 a.m. at the Kearns 10th Ward, 5025 West 4865 South.
