We had to say goodbye to our loving, brave, and courageous husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, Papa, Uncle, cousin and friend on February 23, 2014. He passed away from a heart attack, at the age of 79. He would want others to know "he beat cancer". He was born May 23, 1934, to Ordela Hillyer and Lloyd Denzil O'Dell in Brooklyn, Illinois (Deceased). He was preceded in death by several Aunts and Uncles, who were like parents to him, Granddaughter Camille May O'Dell and Debby O'Dell. He is survived by his loving wife, Konny O'Dell, Sons: Tom (Teri) O'Dell, Kelly O'Dell, daughter Joann Johnson. Brother Raymond (Bev) Sebastian. Grandchildren: Brandy (Richard) O'Dell, April O'Dell, Derick (Bryce) Johnson, Kassady Pymm, Kody O'Dell, Tristena O'Dell, Karson O'Dell, Baylee Snow. Great Grandchildren: Eliott, Easton, Jaedyn White, Derick Jr., Kaige, Samantha, Natashia, Alix Johnson, and Bentlie Makenzie O'Dell Weaver. Special friends Ava Page, Jeremy Weaver as well as many other special friends. He was especially proud of his children and grandchildren and loved them dearly.
He started this life in the spring of the year and survived the cold winters of Illinois and Michigan, where he worked as a young man on many farms learning many skills. He joined the Army at a very early age and served in the Korean War as a paratrooper. He was honorably discharged, having earned numerous awards. Lloyd started his Truck Driving Career and retired from Consolidated Freightways, having achieved National Safety and Million Mile awards. He served as Teamster Union Steward for local 222 in Salt Lake City, Utah as well as local 631, in Las Vegas, Nevada. His retirement years were spent traveling and enjoying missed time with his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Larkin Mortuary Riverton, 12600 South 3688 West Riverton, Utah on Saturday March 8, 2014 from 1-3 PM. Where friends and family may visit. The family request no flowers. Online condolences are welcomed at www.Larkincares.com
