Ralph D. Fisher Obituary
1932 ~ 2013
Ralph D. Fisher, 81, of Bountiful, Utah, passed away April 9, 2013 at his St. George, Utah home after silently enduring many physical challenges.
Ralph was born January 29, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah to David Lamoni and Johanna (Mohleta Johnsen) Fisher.
He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Hale on May 27, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a hard worker, attending the University of Utah and working at United Air Line concurrently while raising a family.
Ralph was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, filling many church positions. He loved to serve others and always willing to help those in need. He was very missionary minded and took many opportunities to introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to others. The Korean War kept Ralph from going on an LDS Mission as a young man. Later in life he was called to be a Stake Mission Leader and then served two missions with his sweetheart in Tennessee, Knoxville and Texas, Houston East Missions. Later, they served a mission overseeing the Moroni Cannery and FHE missionaries at the Gunnison Prison. Ralph and Barbara also served as ordinance workers in the Salt Lake Temple for 10 years.
Ralph's quick wit, big hugs, and words of wisdom will be greatly missed!
He is survived by his wife Barbara; children and their spouses, Susan (Lynn) Steadman of Raft River, ID, Brian (Sheri) Fisher of St. George, UT, Brent (Jenni) Fisher of Hurricane, UT, Sandra (Larry) Boyer of Spokane, WA; 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Shauna (Ralph) Brotherson, sister Dorothy van Mourik and great-granddaughter Brielle Marie Workman.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Morningside 7th Ward, 879 S. River Rd., St. George. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bountiful Val Verda 2nd Ward Chapel, 3317 S. 800 W., Bountiful, UT, with a viewing one hour prior to services at the chapel. Interment will take place at the Bountiful City Cemetery with Military Rites.
The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Woolley, Vanessa and the special staff at Horizon Hospice who gave such great love and care.
Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, (435) 673-2454. Friends and family are invited to offer online condolences at www.spilsburymortuary.com
