Rudger William Ashby, 86, continued on his journey Saturday, June 8th. We will miss him terribly but know he will find peace in a much better place.
He was born in Fillmore, Utah, to Richard Eugene Ashby and Sarah Verle Kesler on August 18, 1926. He grew up in the Cove Fort/Fillmore area of Utah. He served an LDS mission in the Eastern States Mission and attended BYU. He served his country in the US Navy during World War II and Korean War earning 10 medals. Rudy (aka Bill) worked at various endeavors in his life-time: as a barber, an independent contractor, at Utah Technical College in Electronics and as owner of Health and Fitness gyms in SLC, Hollywood and Virginia. He loved poetry, philosophy, family history, big band music and gardening. He also enjoyed a good western movie and a great steak. He was a prankster and a visionary and not easily forgotten by those who met him.
He is survived by his devoted and beautiful wife, Patricia; two siblings: brother - Richard Dell Ashby (Delta) and sister - Verene Thorne (Pleasant Grove); four children, Scott, Charlene, Rodney and Regan; eight step-children, Eileen, Karen, Cheryl, Eric, Christine, Linda, Scott and John; 26 grandchildren plus many other family members and loved ones.
