WEST JORDAN, UTAH-Rudolph J. Marti, 94, passed away at his home on February 5, 2013.
He was born in Logan, Utah, August 16, 1918 to Rudolph Marti and Ella Hahn Marti. Rudy graduated from South High School as well as Utah State Agricultural College with a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture.
He enlisted in the Army Air Force as a Pvt., serving a tour of duty in the European Theater during World War II in the 306th Bomb Group. He was a flight engineer on a B-17, flying reconnaissance missions and was honorably discharged, as a Sgt., after the war.
He briefly worked for the Dept. of Agriculture in Nevada as an advisor to the farming and ranching communities before moving to Arcadia in Duchesne County, UT where he purchased his first ranch.
He married Shirley L. Stauffer on April 21, 1955 in Salt Lake City, later solemnized in the LDS Provo Temple. They made their home in the Uintah Basin where they raised their five children.
Rudy is survived by his children Val Marti, West Jordan, Brian Marti, WVC, Marianne (Kerry) Smith, Alpine and Cheryl (Julie) Marti, Ft. Lupton, CO; grandchildren, Candice, Kimberly, Kelly, Ethan, Kassie, and Maya, his sisters Leona Marti and Dorothy Bradley as well as many nieces and nephews and his good friend Nancy. He was preceded in death by his wife and daughter, Charlyn, parents, and sisters Margaret and Esther.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Chapel, 1950 E. 10600 So., Sandy, where viewings will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2013 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday from 1:00-1:45 p.m. Online condolences: www.larkincares.com.
