Susan Lynn Walker Obituary
Susan Lynn Burch Walker
Jan. 3, 1948-Sept. 10, 2013
Born January 3, 1948 to William (Bill) and Maxine Burch in Artesia, California. Growing up in California, Susan (Sue) loved the beach and would want to vacation there anytime she could from the beaches of California, Hawaii, Mexico, Puerto Rico and St Maarten. Sue could sit on the beach for hours.
Sue received her LPN from the University of Southern California and worked as a nurse in the Orthopedics field working with great physicians and on famous Movie Stars (Dan Blocker, Hoss; Lou Ferrigno, the Hulk) and Athletes (Willie Shoemaker, Jockey; Wilt Chamberlain, Basketball) . She moved to Utah to work with a great orthopedic surgeon where she met her husband, Garve Walker while giving football physicals to the BYU football team.
Sue and Garve moved to Salt Lake City where she worked for the Jordan School District for the last 18 years as a Resource Teacher and Secretary at Sprucewood and Bell View Elementary respectively. Some of her proudest moments were working with the students and helping them progress. She was loved by all whom were touched by her instructions. Sue is survived by her husband (Garve) of 32 years, her 3 beautiful children, Sean (Melissa) of Provo and Chantel (Scot) Losee of Eagle Mountain, and Colby of Sandy. Sue is also survived by one sister, Kimberly (Perry) Lundquist of Colorado. She was privileged to have 10 beautiful grandchildren and wants more. She has 10 Nieces and 8 Nephews and many great Nieces and Nephews. Sue "adopted" many in her life and called them her bonus children.
Sue fought a courageous five year battle against breast cancer and would like to thank all of those staff members at the Huntsman that watched over her, Drs Saundra Buys, Jonathan Boltax, Chakravarthy Reddy and their beautiful staff and assistants (Chantille, Lisa and Audra). Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the LDS chapel on 1020 East Sunburn Lane, (11600 South) Sandy, Utah 84094.
