Verda Lou Wetzel Clayton|
Our loving mother peacefully passed away on February 20th surrounded by her family. She was the only child born to William Augustus and Vella Louisa Wetzel, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Verda Lou married Kenneth Palmer Clayton Jr. April 3, 1953.
Verda Lou, a huge BYU fan, was a graduate from the University of Utah with a degree in physical education. In her early years she was Director of Brighton Girls Camp, taught high school PE, competed in and coached water sports. She retired from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Magazine Subscription Department. She was always a support for her children in their sports and activities. Verda Lou was preceded in death by her husband Ken, daughter Cindy Lee, and her parents. She is survived by her children Randy Joyce (Clark) Fisher, Kenneth P. Clayton III, Bruce (Laura) Clayton, and Laurie (Collin) Chandler. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. At the request of Verda Lou, a private grave side service will be held for close family.
Her family wishes to express a special thank you to the many healthcare givers from Sunrise Home Health & Hospice whose assistance this past year was invaluable.
