Warren Keith Grames Obituary
June 2, 1944 ~ August 15, 2013
On August 15, 2013, the world lost a great man. After a short battle with pancreatic cancer, Warren Keith Grames passed away surrounded and comforted by family. He spent the time in this life that he was blessed with creating memories, enjoying, and having fun with the love of his life, Kathie Jane Pederson, and his children, Brendon, Heath, Jana, and Shauna. While Warren had many hobbies, including spending time in Yellowstone, hunting, fishing, hiking, 4-wheeling, being a rock hound, gardening, and all things outdoors, the most important thing to him was that his wife was at his side, regardless of what they were doing. Together, Warren and Kathie enjoyed many adventures over the years. Some of their favorite adventures included sneaking tuna fish and tomato sandwiches into movie theaters as poor college students, living in Hawaii, Nevada, Colorado, and Utah, and spending time every summer exploring the beauty of the National Parks with their children. He was a great example of dedication to family, service, and loyalty. He taught his family to love life, love the Lord, and to love each other.
Warren was born in Casper, Wyoming on June 2, 1944 to Keith O. Grames and Wanda B. Shelley. Warren grew up in Pleasant Grove, UT with his parents and siblings Pat, Ron, Rita, and Tim.
After graduating from Pleasant Grove High School, Warren enlisted in the Navy and served during the Vietnam War. While on leave from his duties in the Navy, Warren returned to Utah and met the love of his life. Warren and Kathie were married on July 18, 1964 and were sealed for time and eternity in the Laie Hawaii temple. They recently celebrated their 49 year anniversary.
Warren graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Utah State University. Before retirement, he was the Risk Manager for the Utah Department of Transportation.
Warren is survived by his loving wife, Kathie, who adores him, his sons Brendon (Dawn) and Heath (Holly), his daughters Jana (Jake) and Shauna (Robert), and 11 grandchildren. Warren is preceded in death by his son Robert, his mother, and his grandson Braedon.
Funeral Services will be Friday, August 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Jordan 5th Ward Chapel, 9331 South 300 East, Sandy. Friends may visit with the family Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30-10:45 a.m., both times at the church. Burial with military honors will be at East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery, 4800 North 650 East, Provo. Arrangements are by Walker Sanderson Funeral Home in Orem.
