Salt Lake City, Utah-William Hershel Davis, our beloved father, grandfather and friend, passed away at the age of 94 years on April 29, 2014, at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Bill was born on June 5, 1919 in Montpelier, Idaho to Florence Matilda and Preston Hay Davis. Bill was a graduate of West High School in Salt Lake City. During World War II, Bill enlisted in the United States Navy and participated in the D-day invasion and later served in the Pacific theater until the end of the war.
Bill married the love of his life, Reva Wright Adams on April 12, 1943 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Bill and Reva raised four children: Steven Davis (Dora); Kathy Moyes (Ernie); Debbie Wolthuis (Ron); and Julie Jensen (Jeff). Bill is survived by his children, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and his sisters Virginia Davis and Lou Nepolis. Bill was predeceased by his brother, Dick Wailes and a sister, Helen Newman. Reva predeceased Bill on May 26, 2011, after 69 years of marital bliss.
Together Bill and Reva founded and operated Salt Lake Instrument Service which they ran for more than 60 years. Bill closed the business' doors only recently in the Fall of 2013.
Bill loved the Jazz and was an avid coin collector. In their later life, Bill and Reva traveled extensively and cruised to many ports of call around the world. They both treasured their family and loved to spend time with their children and grandchildren. Bill was well respected in the business community and admired for his ethics and integrity.
Special thanks and appreciation are extended to the Solstice Hospice and Home Instead who cared for Bill during his final months at home.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Dr., Salt Lake City, Utah.
