William K. Crane Obituary
12/23/1921 ~ 1/13/2013
William Kirk Crane (Bill), passed away peacefully Sunday January 13th, 2013 in Salt Lake City, UT.
Bill was born on December 23rd, 1921 in Salina, Utah, to Rita Gee Crane and George Lamar Crane. Bill grew up in McGill Nevada. During World War II he served as Sargent in the Army Air Corp, European theater, as a control tower radio operator. Bill married Lois Bernice Moyer on November 2nd, 1951.
He is survived by daughter Victoria Lee Steger and son Peter David Crane.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his daughter Mary Sue Crane.
Bill was a gruff old bear on the outside but was just a big teddy bear at heart. Bill worked as a hydronic heating salesman and has designed hot water heating systems for commercial properties and residences in Utah, and mentored others in the heating and cooling business. His favorite past time was crocheting afghans for family and friends, even with Macular degeneration he still would make gifts of warm blankets as he listened to audio books. Bill has impacted many lives in 91 years; he has donated his eyes to the Utah Lions Eye Bank for research to cure Macular Degeneration. He was a private man and his wishes were to just have the family together for dinner at his favorite restaurant. There will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Library for the Blind, Utah Lions Eye Bank or Utah Museum of Natural History.
