Obituary Condolences

Black Barbara A. Black, age 86, died Thursday, January 30, 2014, at her residence. Born in Troy, OH in 1927, Ms. Black was graduated from Troy High School in 1945. The family moved to Piqua, OH in 1946. Ms. Black worked as an artist for Troy Sunshade Co; as a copywriter for Radio Station WPTW in Piqua; and also, at various times, did general factory work. In 1959, she moved to Columbus. Ms. Black enrolled at The Ohio State University in 1960, going to night classes while working days at Rexall Drug Co. She was graduated from The Ohio State University in summer of 1968, and in the fall began teaching English at Worthingway Middle School in Worthington, OH. Ms. Black received her Master's degree in English from Ohio State in 1975, and in 1983 began teaching English at Worthington High School. She retired from Thomas Worthington High School in 1993, after having taught in the Worthington Schools for 25 years. Barb was preceded in death by her parents Abram F. and Bessie (Shelton) Black and six older siblings. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the SOUTHWICK-GOOD & FORTKAMP FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3100 N. High St. on Wednesday February 5 from 5:30-6:30 p.m., followed by a casual gathering of friends and family at 6:30 p.m. Chapel service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Riverside Cemetery, Troy, Ohio.
