Vanek Barbara A. (Moltenberry) Vanek, age 71, passed away peacefully in Laguna Niguel, California, on March 4, 2014. Predeceased by husband Timothy D. Vanek in 2010, and by her parents Elizabeth A. Freshwater and Stanley E. Moltenberry of Columbus, Ohio. Survived by her loving daughters, Terri and Laura Lee (Keith) and their father, Kent Fulmer; stepsons, Timothy and Randall (Reina); sister, Janice (Mark); brother, John (Teri); grandchildren, Lacie (Eric), Jessica, and Koa; great-grand-daughter, Peyton; and extended family. Born in Lima, Ohio, on June 2, 1942, Barbara grew up in Columbus, graduating from Eastmoor High School in 1960. She attended Miami University (Ohio) and the Ohio State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in social work. Barbara spent most of her adult life in southern California, where she put her renowned organizational skills to good use as an event planner, office manager, and licensed private investigator. She was an avid reader, walker, genealogist, and world traveller. After retiring, Barbara and Tim became fulltime RVers and spent several years enjoying outdoor adventures throughout the Western states.
