Mickler Barbara Joan Mickler, born on August 1, 1930, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2013 listening to the classical music that she loved. Remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Barbara graduated from Bexley High School in 1948, attended Purdue University and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1952. A passionate supporter of the arts in Columbus, Barbara was a docent at the Columbus Museum of Art starting in 1982, and served as Docent Chairman in 1986-87. She was also an avid supporter of the Columbus Symphony. Past President of the Wexner Heritage Tower, former member of Wexner Heritage Village Auxiliary and Temple Israel . An adventurous soul, Barbara loved to travel and explore the many far reaches of the world with her friends and family. Forever a Boilermaker, she followed Purdue Football all the way to the Rose Bowl. It brought great joy to Barbara to meet and spend time with her babies (great-grandchildren) this past year. Preceded in death by her parents Sol and Rose Zell. Survived by her children, Wendy (Ernie) Grindstaff and Rob (Elana) Mickler; grandchildren, Sara Grindstaff, Megan (Phil) Sisson, and Eric Grindstaff, great-grandchildren; Reid and Claire Sisson. The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful and caring staff at Wesley Glen and Zusman Hospice whose love and care gave the end of her life comfort, peace and dignity.Funeral service 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 1st at THE EPSTEIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3232 E. Main St. with Rabbi Rick Kellner and Rabbi Sharon Mars officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery - Temple Israel Section. Shiva will be observed following the funeral at the Jewish Community Center from 12:30-2:30 p.m. and on Saturday evening at the Grindstaff residence from 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Columbus arts organization of your choice or Zusman Hospice.
