Spencer Bee Atrice Jane Spencer, better remembered as the director of the Reynoldsburg Minstrel shows from 1952-1968, age 92, of Reynoldsburg, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Wesley Ridge Retirement Center. In the late 40's she was the first marching band director at Reynoldsburg High School. She was the choir director at both Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church and Parkview Presbyterian Church until retirement. She taught music and substitute taught in the Reynoldsburg local schools for many years. She was a member of Parkview Presbyterian Church, active in the Civic Club, Eugenie Chapter #507 O.E.S., and Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She was a graduate of Amanda High School class of 1938 and Ohio State University class of 1942. Jane is preceded in death by F. William Spencer, her husband of 63 years and survived by daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Bill McKenzie, Pickerington and grandchildren, Meghan McKenzie Burrows and Jeremy Burrows; son and daughter-in-law, Carty and Nancy Spencer, Glendale, CA, and grandchildren, Kimberly and Chuck Dodge, Julianne Jane and Nicki Spencer; great-grandchildren, Hannah Jane and Jack Dodge, and Weston Burrows. Friends may visit 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Rd. N., (St. Rt. #256), Pickerington. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Wesley Ridge Chapel, 2225 Taylor Park Dr., Reynoldsburg, with the Rev. Rich Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Amanda Township Cemetery.
