Solomonides Byron C. Solomonides, age 89, passed away July 27, 2014 at First Community Village. Byron was born December 23, 1924 to the late Dr. C.H. Solomonides and Elizabeth Keavie Solomonides in Columbus, Ohio. Graduate of The Ohio State University and The University of Alabama. Served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during WWII. He was senior engineer and structural designer for North American Rockwell; devoted much of his career to Aeronautics and Astronautics Research. He served as President and Chairman of the Board for National Management; a consultant with NASA after the Challenger disaster on re-entry, recovery and escape systems. Byron was a lifelong member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, where he has served on the parish counsel, AHEPA, Big Brothers, and Chairman for the Greek Festival. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Kitsa Chaldis Solomonides; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and David Walkden of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law, Drew and Lee Solomonides of Columbus; grandchildren, Lee (Michelle) Walkden, Heather Walkden, Adrian Solomonides, Magdalene Solomonides and Christopher Solomonides. Preceded in death by brother Charles. Friends may call at the O. R. WOODYARD CO. NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 2990 Bethel Rd., Wednesday 5-8 p.m. with Trisagion at 7:30 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Demetrios Gardikes officiating. Interment a Green Lawn Cemetery. The family request contributions in Byron's Memory be directed to the Church.
