Colleen (Rogers) Horne Obituary
Horne Colleen Rogers Horne, age 82, of Upper Arlington, Ohio, passed away on May 14, 2013. She was born, raised and lived her entire life on the northwest side of Columbus. an area she dearly loved and which her family left a very distinct legacy. Graduate of South Perry Elementary, North High School (Class of 1948), and The Office Training School. Attended The Ohio State University. She was a legal secretary for 10 years for a Columbus, Ohio law firm before becoming a mother of four. Preceded in death by her parents R. Ellis Rogers and Mary Lane Rogers and her husband of 12 years, John W. Horne Jr., who died in an airplane crash in 1969. Survived by her sister, Edna Mae Embree (Hollis); Colleen's four children, John Horne, Dan Horne, Julie Dodson (Scott), and David Horne; seven grand-children, Emily, Janie, and Jack Horne, Jared Horne, Jessica, Alec, and Rachel Dodson; one niece, Beth Ann Kaufman (Tim); a grand-nephew, Bennett; and grand-niece, Lauren; and many other family and friends. Colleen was active in many organizations in her community: First Community Church; Couples Circle #1; Group N; Twig 80 of Nationwide Children's Hospital; The Buckeye Ranch School - Sustaining Board III; a den-mother for the Cub Scouts. Family and friends may gather at a Celebration of Life visitation on Monday, May 20, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, OH 43221. Private inurnment will be held at UNION CEMETERY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd., Columbus, OH 43212 or the Buckeye Ranch School, 5665 Hoover Road, Grove City, OH 43123.
