Sedgwick Cornelia Lewis "Penny" Sedgwick. Born August 30, 1924 in Columbus, Ohio, Cornelia Annette Lewis "Penny" Sedgwick was the daughter of Thomas Evans Lewis, Sr. and Cornelia Annette Brial. She was the eldest of three daughters in a family of seven children. A graduate of the Ohio State University, before starting her family, she taught home economics in the Plain City, Ohio public schools. She was a very active member of the local Girl Scouts, serving as director for several years of their summer camp at High Banks and rising to the position of President of the Central Ohio Girl Scout Council. An avid Airstreamer, she traveled throughout the lower forty-eight and Canada during summers (always reading aloud to the family from the AAA guidebook!). Later, she traveled abroad frequently, especially enjoying traveling to Wales to visit the birthplace of her father. After her family had grown, she worked a number of years for the Development Office of OSU. Penny was preceded in death by two of her children (a daughter, Jennifer Sedgwick, in 1972 and a son, Kim Sedgwick, in 2012). She is survived by two sisters, Catharine Lewis Grey of Columbus and Sarah Lewis Garrett of Davenport, Iowa;, a brother, Arthur Lewis of Findlay;, two children, Karen Sedgwick Roadruck of Toledo and Jeffrey Sedgwick of Richmond, Virginia;, four grandchildren, Jenni Roadruck Longo of Delaware, Matthew Roadruck of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Alexander Sedgwick of Manhattan, New York, and Hilary Sedgwick of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and three great grandchildren, CJ, Greyson and Tanner Longo of Delaware. A celebration of Penny's life will be held at Westminster-Thurber Retirement Community, 717 Neil Ave., Columbus, OH 43215 on Saturday, March 8 at 10 a.m. Memorial gifts may be made to Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services, 1001 Kingsmill Parkway, Columbus, OH 43229.
