D. Wayne Ashby Jr. Obituary
Ashby D. Wayne Ashby Jr., of Pinehurst, NC, and Pemaquid Beach, ME, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH. He was a graduate of Upper Arlington High School, class of 1944 and The Ohio State University, class of 1949. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Wayne was a successful business and community leader. He was partner in charge and founder of the Columbus office of Deloitte & Touche Accounting Firm. He was Past President of the OSU Alumni Association and member of OSU Athletic Council. Wayne was an avid Buckeye Fan and golfer, but most important to him were his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jo Rutan Ashby; his children, Pamela Anne Ashby, Stephanie Ann Pisaris, Susan Mary (Tom) Olix, D. Wayne "Chip" (Julia) Ashby III, John (Kate) Pisaris; grandchildren, Daniel Olix, Jennifer Olix, Benjamin Pisaris, Sarah Pisaris, Teddy Hill, Nicholas Ashby, Spencer Ashby, and Luke Ashby. He will remain in our hearts forever. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 333 S. Drexel Avenue, Bexley, OH 43209, where family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, ATTN: Dan's Courage Crew, 2225 Citygate Drive, Suite E, Columbus, OH 43219.
