Bonnes David Ralph Bonnes. It is with deep, and heavy sadness that we announce the death of David Ralph Bonnes, who passed on June 20, 2014, in Mount Carmel St. Ann's Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. David was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1930 under the family name Bonislawski, which was changed to Bonnes when David was a teenager. He received a degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University in 1952 and joined the Army shortly thereafter. He was honorably discharged 1960. Over his career, he was awarded six patents. He married Phyllis Jean Austin in 1952. David was an avid mariner and practically raised his family on Lake Erie. He is survived by his brother, Gene; his children, Marsha Geary and husband, Bill, Mark Bonnes and wife, Wanda, Jan Anstine and husband, Rick, Matt Bonnes and wife, Kathy. He also leaves grandchildren, Brad, Lindsay and John Geary, Brooke and Heidi Bonnes, Joe and Jamie Anstine and Matt and Josh Bonnes. In addition, he leaves 11 great-grandchildren. A private service will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Westerville, Ohio on Friday, June 27, 2014. Rev. Fr. David E. Gwinner, celebrant. The family was comforted by the fact that "Papa" passed at exactly 5 p.m. in the evening, just in time to celebrate a happy hour martini with his beloved wife, "Mimi." In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Parkinson's research, The Ohio State University Foundation, 1480 West Lane Avenue, Columbus, OH 43221.
