Bulthaup Dr. Donald Carl Bulthaup, age 82, of Westerville, died Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born March 3, 1930 in Indianapolis, IN to Carl and Doretta (Heger) Bulthaup. On July 19, 1952 he married Barbara Ann (Sponsel) Bulthaup, who died August 25, 2004. A U.S. Air Force veteran, Dr. Bulthaup attained the rank of Captain as a member of the Strategic Air Command's Weather Detachment. Upon completion of his military service he taught physics at General Motors Institute in Flint, MI and in 1964 joined the Physics Department at Otterbein College where he also served as Academic Dean before retiring from the college in 1993. During this time he was also actively involved at Central College United Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder and as a member of numerous committees. He was also a member of the Westerville Rotary. In retirement he became business manager at the Central College Church for a number of years and afterwards continued to provide volunteer time for computer assistance and church upkeep. Dr. Bulthaup graduated from Indiana Central College (BS), Michigan State University (MS) and the Ohio State University (Ph.D). He is survived by two daughters, Janet Cook (Philip) of Sidney, OH and Sharon Bulthaup (Jake Garrity) of Gallup, NM; two grandchildren, Nathan Cook (Sarah Griffith) of Greenville, SC and Sarah Wilcox (Charles) of Hilliard, OH; five great-grandchildren, three boys, Ian, Ryan, and Simon and two girls, Aurora and Luna; his brother, Robert Bulthaup (Sue); and his sister, Linda Sweetman (Edward). A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Central College Presbyterian Church in Westerville, OH. Arrangements by MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, Westerville.
