Carlin Edna C. Carlin, 101, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers, Florida. Edna lived in Columbus until she moved to Fort Myers in 2004. Born on August 20, 1911 in Carbon Hill, Ohio, Edna was the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Dorcas Johnson. Edna was the devoted and cherished wife of Theodore "Pete" Carlin for 63 years prior to his death in 2005. She was preceded in death by brothers Dana, Earl, John, Ralph and sister Lucille. She is survived by sister, Frances Morgan of Columbus; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Dorie Ellen Carlin of Fort Myers; many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Edna graduated from Carbon Hill High School as valedictorian of her class and from Ohio University with honors. She was an elementary school teacher in Ohio for over 36 years prior to her retirement in 1972. Edna loved music and was an accomplished pianist. She was a loving wife, caring sister, adored aunt and favorite teacher. A celebration of life service will be held on June 20, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Bloom Presbyterian Church in Lithopolis. The family wishes to thank Dr. Alan Weinberg, Edna's doctor for over 30 years, and the doctors, nurses and staff members at Shell Point Retirement Community for their loving care of Edna. The family also wants to thank all of the private caregivers who provided compassionate care for Edna for the past several years.
