Obituary Condolences

Fisher Elizabeth Scipio Fisher, a longtime resident of Worthington, Ohio, died on Friday, September 20, 2013. Born October 28, 1914, in Istanbul, Turkey, to Margaret Booher and Dr. Lynn Adolphus Scipio, Elizabeth was a graduate of the American College for Girls at Robert College in Istanbul. Elizabeth also graduated from DePauw University, where she was a member of the Alpha Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, and she attended graduate school in social work at Northwestern University and at the Sorbonne in Paris, France. She is predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Dr. Sydney Nettleton Fisher, and infant son, John Logan Fisher. Elizabeth was an accomplished pianist, watercolorist and writer who started traveling as a young girl and shared this love with her children and grandchildren. She maintained a lifelong interest in world affairs, especially those involving peace and justice. Elizabeth was a gracious hostess to many in the academic and diplomatic worlds. She was a member of the Worthington Presbyterian Church, the Worthington Women's Club/current events group, and The Ohio State University Faculty Wives Club. Elizabeth is lovingly remembered and survived by her children, Alan (Carol) Fisher, Robert Lynn (Louise) Fisher, and Margaret Fisher (Dave) McCarthy; by her grandchildren, Elizabeth Fisher Goldsmith, Christy Fisher (Robert Kotchenruther), Garrett Fisher (Nathan Thompson), Robert Fisher, William Addison (Char) Fisher, Logan Fisher, Raphael Green, Benjamin (Donna) Green, Meghan McCarthy (Jeffrey) Mills, Allyson McCarthy (Andrew) Minister, Robert (Leslie) McCarthy; and by her great-grandchildren, Jason, Brian and Alexander Goldsmith, Sophie and Daisy Green, Hayden, Natalie and Andrew Mills, Henry, Holden and Charlotte McCarthy, Dalton Childress and Elisabeth Minister. The family sends a very special thank you to Stephanie Austin and Karen Jackson from OhioHealth Hospice, and to Dr. Elizabeth Unk. Interment will be private.
