Gottschalk Eugene "Gene" R. Gottschalk, of Columbus, Ohio, age 84, died December 6, 2013 at the Village of Westerville. Preceded in death by his wife of 44 plus years, Joyce (Baker) Gottschalk. Survived by four children and spouses, Lynda L. (Gottschalk) and Dr. Gary Miller of Lima, Ohio, Gary S. Gottschalk and Jeanmarie Fucci of San Diego, California, Julie A. (Gottschalk) Hawkinberry and Barton Hawkinberry of Westerville, Ohio, Ronald A. Gottschalk and Mary Thaman of Brooklyn, New York. Also survived by seven grandchildren and spouses, Amanda (Miller) Hyter and Gabe Hyter of Akron, Ohio, Shawn and Kristi Miller of Columbus, Ohio, Kevin and Tracy Miller of Lima, Ohio, Hannah Hawkinberry and Haley Hawkinberry of Westerville, Ohio, Elinor and William Gottschalk; and four great grandchildren. Gene was born and raised in Wauseon, Ohio, the youngest of nine children who have all preceded him in death. He attended two years at Ohio State University with an NROTC scholarship. He was a sales representative for General Foods Corp. and also for American Photocopy Equipment Co. (APECO). Gene became self-employed as a Distributor of Amway Products and achieved Ruby Direct Distributor now known as Ruby IBO (Independent Business Owner) affiliated with Amway 2000 and Quixtar. Gene had a lifelong passion of model airplanes and reading. He was a friend to anyone he met and will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Calling hours will be Sunday December 8, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 E. Schrock Rd., Westerville, Ohio. Service and interment will be at Blendon Central Chapel and Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2013. Pastor John Hyter officiating.
