Meyers Evelyn R. Meyers, age 94, died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Wesley Glen Retirement Center. Born January 21, 1920 in Center Township, Mercer County, Ohio. Parents William H. and Ruth (Harner) Meyers, now deceased. Also deceased, brother William W. "Bud" Meyers and nephew William Douglas Meyers. Survivors sister-in-law, Vivian Meyers, St. Paris, Ohio; nephew, Wade (Marsha) Meyers, Urbana, Ohio; niece Yvonne (Mark) Souders, Hilliard, Ohio; great nieces Tawnya (Matthew) Lewis, Hilliard, Ohio, Alison (Jared Rodgers) Meyers, Carmel, California, Dr. Lynette (Dr. Bradley) Mehl, Dublin, Ohio, Lindsay (Scott) Allison, Urbana, Ohio, Whitney Meyers, Washington D.C.; great-great nieces, Victoria Lewis, Angeline Allison and Elizabeth Lewis; great-great nephews, William Lewis, Austin Mehl and Gavin Mehl. Education: Graduate of Neptune High School, Celina, Ohio. Bachelor of Science and Masters of Arts in Education from The Ohio State University. Also attended Bowling Green State University, Miami University, Case Western Reserve University and Ohio Dominican University. Retired from the Columbus Public Schools. She also taught in the Public Schools of Waynesfield, Galion, and Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Church member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church of Celina, Ohio for more than 75 years; and has attended Maple Grove United Methodist Church in Columbus for over 45 years. Lifetime member of The Ohio State University Alumni Association and the Ohio Education Association. She was also a member of the Clintonville Woman's Club and the Ohio Historical Society. Past Matron of Worthington Chapter #287 Order of Eastern Star and served as President of OES Hospital Circle and President of the District 17 OES Cancer Project. Recipient of the Grand Cross of Color from the Order of the Rainbow for girls. Among her numerous volunteer projects, she served for many years as an usher at Mershon Auditorium. She also was a Docent at the Orange Johnson House in Worthington. Funeral Service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014, where family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-7:30 p.m. with an OES Service at 7:30 p.m. Burial 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Riverside Cemetery, Rockford, Ohio.
