Clager Francis Joseph "Frank" Clager, age 97. A loyal servant of his church, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family. Francis found rest with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 2, 2014 from Willow Brook Assisted Living, where he lived these past few years. He was born in Deerfield Township Morgan County Ohio the third child of the late Frank C and Martha Swytzer Clager. Francis was a graduate of The Ohio State University. He served in the U. S. Navy during WW II as a Lieutenant (JG) Communications Officer serving in the Marshall Islands, Guam, Saipan in the Mariana Islands and the Caroline Islands. After the service he worked as an auditor for General Mills and then became an Internal Revenue Special Agent, where he retired from with 30 years of service. After retiring he spent two years training Special Agents in Guam. He was member of Holy Name Catholic Church for 45 years and then Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church for 52 years. He served on many church and school organizations. In his late 80's he volunteered at Indian Springs Elementary School and worked with 1st graders who needed extra reading help. He was awarded the Columbus Dispatch Father of the year in 1962. He and his sons were all Dispatch carriers. Above all he was an avid Buckeye Fan and rarley missed a game. Preceded in death by the love of his life and faithful partner for 65 years: Elizabeth Kathryn "Libby" Harbaugh Clager, his parents, siblings and their spouses Verona (Connie) Schneider, Charles (Mary Ann Doyle) Clager and Martha (Stan) Frye. Francis is survived by five children, Frank (Patti) Clager of Columbus, OH, Larry (Cathy) Clager of Brecksville, OH, Dave (Sharon) Clager of Columbus, OH, Beth (Tom) Callahan of Worthington, OH and Carol (Bill) Rehak of East Bend, NC; 11 grandchildren and five great-grand-children; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Family will receive friends Wednesday 4-7 p.m., in the NOVAK FUNERAL HOME, 4476 N. High Street (one block north of Henderson Road). Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 20 E. Dominion Blvd., Columbus, Ohio. Rev. Fr. Anthony A. Dinovo, celebrant. Entombment Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 9571 N. High Street, Lewis Center. Prayer service 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2014, Rev. Fr. Anthony A. Dinovo.
