Novack Gerald J. Novack, 77, of Lancaster passed away on Saturday March 16, 2013. He was born on September 10, 1935 in Lorain, OH to the late Peter and Victoria (Sklarek) Nowacki. Jerry graduated from University of Iowa and played on the 1958 National Championship football team and in the 1959 Rose Bowl. Jerry served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a deputy director for the Ohio Department Youth Services, a development consultant, and worked in the Department of Development for Ohio University. Jerry was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, the University of Iowa Letterman Club and the Lorain OH Sports Hall of Fame. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jerry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marlene (Hoover) Novack; son, Thomas (Kellie) Novack; daughter, Nancy (Michael) Idzkowski; grandchildren, Maggie, Morgan, Nick and Alyssa; brother in law, Gerald (Sirpa) Hoover; many nieces and nephews; and his constant companion, Maggie the dog. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Nowacki and sister and brother in law Florence and Keith Raymond. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday March 21, 2013 at the St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Kessler as celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, Ohio with military honors. Visitation will be on Wednesday March 20 from 4-8 p.m. at the SHERIDAN FUNERAL HOME, Lancaster with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the
