Glenna Irene Tzagournis

Obituary Condolences

Glenna Irene Tzagournis Obituary
Tzagournis Glenna Irene Tzagournis, age 72 of Upper Arlington, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014. Glenna was born and raised in Loudonville, Ohio, daughter of the late Joseph and Bernice Stanger. Also preceded in death by her brother Stan Stanger. Glenna completed her undergraduate studies at Capital University and received her Masters from The Ohio State University. She worked throughout most of her life as a teacher for special needs children. Glenna was a very active member of The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She was a Past President and officer of the Greek Philoptochos and served on the Parish Council. Glenna was a giver. She gave her love to each of her four sons and daughters-in-law, 16 grandchildren, and beloved husband. She gave her time to the church she so cherished and the parishioners she considered family. She gave her knowledge as a teacher to not only her students but all who knew her. But most importantly she gave her life, her whole life to the service of the Lord. Glenna's work in the food kitchen serving the homeless and lending a hand to the less fortunate resulted from her love for others. Glenna is the most beautiful woman we have ever known because she knew and acted in a way that gave glory to God and this radiance shone in all the lives of those blessed enough to know her. Glenna will not pass away to be forgotten or lost forever but rather will forever live in the hearts of all who she touched. Like an angel of the Lord, Glenna will ascend into heaven peacefully as a beacon of hope forever more. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 49 years, Dr. Charles Tzagournis; sons and daughters-in-law, Adam and Shelley, Mark and Simona, Michael and Vallery, and John and Hope Tzagournis; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kaki, Mary Bess, Charley, Deno, Isabelle Irene, Hailey, Charles, James, Sharlene Glenna, Claire, Chase, Marek, Luke, Sophia, and Charlie Tzagournis; brothers, Gerald (Ruth) and Gene (Bonnie) Stanger; and countless nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd, where a Trisagion Prayer Service will begin at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2014 at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 555 N. High St. Father Demetrios Gardikes officiating. Interment Union Cemetery. Glenna's family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Riverside Methodist Hospital for the wonderful care they gave. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions be made in Glenna's memory to The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 555 N. High St., Columbus, Ohio 43215 where they will be used towards a scholarship fund. To share memories or condolences, please visit www.schoedinger.com.
