Babbert Hazel E. Babbert, of Columbus, passed away August 3, 2013 at the Autumn At The Lake Rehabilitation Center in Thornville, Ohio. Born May 19, 1920, daughter of Louise and Herman Kreuzer. 1942 Graduate of Capital University. Retired Columbus City School Teacher at Buckeye Middle School. Member of Ohio Education Association, Columbus Education Association - Retired, Capital University Alumni, The Human Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Ohio Eastern Star Beacon Chapter 593 and Sierra Club. Supporter of Capital University, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Disabled American Veterans, Special Olympics of Ohio, Environmental Defense Fund, The Nature Conservancy, Habitat for Humanity and St. Joseph's Indian School. Hazel's love for animals was only exceeded by her lifelong passion of educating children. Survived by several cousins. Proceeded in death by husband Carl Babbert. Friends may call at O. R. WOODYARD CO. CHAPEL, 1346 S. High St., Wednesday 6-9 p.m., where funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be immediately after service at Green Lawn Cemetery.
