SLONECKER Herman L. Slonecker, Jr., passed away November 19, 2012. He was born August 5, 1929 in Nashville, Tennessee to Herman, Sr. and Stella May Slonecker. He earned his BS degree from Trevecca Nazarene University and both a MA and MS degree from Vanderbilt University in Mathematics where he was a Ford Foundation Fellow. He held managerial positions with North American Rockwell, Arvin Diamond Electronics and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation. He was also Chair of the Computer Science Department at Columbus State Community College. He was a soft spoken, kind hearted gentleman who was devoted to his family and to his God. He was an avid bicyclist and lover of music. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Julia; his son, Mark H. Slonecker; daughter, Pam (Daryl) Flemming; grandchildren, Eric (Shelly) Slonecker, Amy (Chris) Davis, Alec and Ethan Flemming. He has two great-granddaughters, Molly Davis and Marlee Slonecker. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. William T. Slonecker (Betty); nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of Herman's life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Linworth United Methodist Church, 7070 Bent Tree Blvd., Columbus, OH 43235. A time of visiting and sharing refreshments with the family will follow the service.
