Paul James T. Paul, 90, passed away on March 28, 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on July 13, 1923 and lived there until 2011 when he moved to Atlanta to be closer to his daughter. Over his 90 years, Jim never met a stranger and loved talking to people. He attended Central High School and Ohio State University and served in the US Coast Guard during World War II. Jim was the founder and president of Allied Beverage Distributing Company from 1952-1985. After retiring, he was an active volunteer at COSI and enjoyed greeting all the young visitors. His deceased parents came to the United States from Greece and he was very proud of his Greek heritage and the Greek community in Columbus. During his life, he was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church, Columbus Rotary Club, Brookside Country Club (where he had a standing gin rummy game on Wednesday nights), and York Lodge. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen; daughter, Mary Lynne Thompson (Jim); and granddaughter, Whitney Lynne Thompson - the light of his life. The family is having a private service in Atlanta. Donations can be made to COSI, Attn: Development Office, 333 W. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43215 or Emory Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, c/o Emory University Health Services Development, 1440 Clifton Rd., Suite 112, Atlanta, GA 30322.
