Weisent (O'Neil) Janet M. (O'Neil) Weisent, 85, of Columbus, Ohio, peacefully passed away on February 18, 2014. A longtime resident of Clintonville, Janet was a graduate of Columbus School for Girls and The Ohio State University. She was a retired Head Start and Pre-Kindergarten teacher with the Columbus Public Schools after 25 years of dedicated service. Janet was honored to be named a Jennings Scholar in 1986 for outstanding teaching. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who truly loved life, and her many passions included: spending time with family and friends and remembering them in special ways, traveling, volunteering, cooking endless buffets, knitting, playing the piano, supporting the OSU Buckeyes, and being prideful of her Irish heritage. Janet was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Preceded in death by her parents Alice (O'Donnell) and William J. O'Neil, brothers Robert (Betty) O'Neil, Jack (Catherine) O'Neil, and sister-in-law Mary (Bud) Balser. Survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Charles O. Weisent; daughters, Joy (Mike) Scholl and Judy Weisent; son, Chip (Holly) Weisent; grandchildren, Abbey (Greg Liff) Scholl, Jenna Scholl Reik (John Reik), Connor Weisent, Tyler Weisent; great granddaughter, Autumn Liff; brother, William J. (Claire) O'Neil; nieces, Linda (Darryl) Baker, Mary Estepp, Alice (Mike) Chapman, Jill (Randy) Braverman and Tricia O'Neil; nephews, Dan O'Neil, Joe (Sue) O'Neil, Bob (Susan) O'Neil and Bill (Alison) O'Neil; many cousins and dear friends. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2014 at EGAN-RYAN NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 4661 Kenny Rd., Columbus, OH 43220. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 20 E. Dominion Blvd., Columbus, OH 43214, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Janet's honor to the Employee Appreciation Fund at The Forum at Knightsbridge, 4590 Knightsbridge Blvd., Columbus, Ohio 43214. We will forever be grateful to the dedicated staff at The Forum at Knightsbridge, and our Ohio Health Homereach Hospice team, for their compassionate care of Janet, along with the loving support of the Oakley, O'Neil, and Ridenour families, and tennis friends at Champion and Olympic Clubs.
