CANRIGHT Jo Ann Dunnett Canright, age 82, longtime Columbus resident and resident of Shelby, died Sunday, December 9, 2012 at her home. Born May 2, 1930 in Youngstown, Ohio to William E. and Annis (Smith) Dunnett she resided in Columbus for many years moving to Shelby in 2007. Mrs. Canright graduated from The Ohio State University in Columbus with a B.S. degree in nursing. She was a registered nurse at Harding Hospital in Worthington from 1965 to 1970. Mrs. Canright returned to OSU in 1969 and, subsequently, received her bachelor and master degrees in education. She retired in 1996 from Columbus Public Schools, where she was a guidance counselor. Jo was a member of For-Mel Women's Club, Mansfield Women's Club, Buckeye Golden Kiwanis, and various bridge groups. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Columbus, where she had served as an elder and a Sunday school teacher and Westminister Presbyterian Church in Bradenton, FL, where she also taught Sunday school. An avid Ohio State fan, Jo Ann enjoyed playing cards and spending her summers at their summer home in Canada and winters in Bradenton Florida. Survivors include her husband, Robert M. Canright, whom she wed June 10, 1951; three children; Robert "Mark" (Carol) Canright of Huffman, TX, Marchelle "Shelley" (Michael) Medsker of Washington D.C, Lynnette (Jerry) Roth of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Shawn, Christina, and Tara Canright, Nikki, Alison, Ashleigh and Rachael Roth; four great-grandchildren, Curtis and Haylee Canright and Lena and Cole Jackson. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the First Lutheran Church in Shelby with Reverend Russel Yoak officiating. Services will also be held in Columbus 2 p.m. Thursday, December 13 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church with Reverend Phyllis Heffner officiating.
