Lane Joan McDill Lane, died peacefully on April 14, 2014 after a long illness. She was born in 1924 to Russell and Helen McDill and grew up in Williamsport and Frankfort, Ohio. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Ohio State University, where she met her future husband, Earl William Lane. After her marriage in 1948, she taught elementary school in Chillicothe and Upper Arlington, and later worked as a school psychologist for Westerville City Schools. She and her husband moved to Worthington in 1952, where they lived until she was widowed in 2008. She developed many lasting friendships within the embrace of her church, St. John's Episcopal, and the Worthington Historical Society. She was an accomplished gardener, embroiderer, and traveler. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Lane Maier, her son-in-law, Robert C. Maier, and grandchildren, Jessie and William Maier. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Worthington, with a reception following the service.
