John E. Lowry Obituary
Lowry John E. Lowry, age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Friendship Village of Columbus. John was born on October 19, 1926 in Columbus to the late Harold and Evelyn (Anthony) Lowry. He attended The Ohio State University until he was drafted into the US Army serving during WWII. John retired from Columbia Gas Co. after 41 years as a Manager of Engineering Graphics. John was a member and past President of the Central Ohio Rose Society (Past President 1965), American Rose Society, Royal National Rose Society and Consultant for the American Rose Society; Columbus Rose Club (Past President 1968), Central Ohio Chrysanthemum Society (Past President 1996-97), National Chrysanthemum Society (Past President 2002-2003), and National Chrysanthemum Society. He enjoyed gardening, photography, bowling, doing slide presentations including Amera Flora. John was an OSU Buckeye fan and enjoyed playing softball with the gas company. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Annette Lowry, brothers-in-law Victor and Beverly Moseley and sister-in-law Louise Moseley. Survived by his son, Kurt Lowry; sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Moseley; cousin, Betty Corbin; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd. Columbus, Ohio, where funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2013 with Pastor Judith Ety officiating. Interment Kingwood Memorial Park.
