John L. Gray Obituary
Gray John L. Gray, age 90, of Columbus, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014. He was born February 14, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY to the late James and Edna Gray. John received his undergrad degree in Chemical Engineering from Pratt Institute in New York City. He was a LTJG Navy veteran serving in the South Pacific until the end of WWII. Upon returning from service, John obtained his law degree from Albany Law School, where he met his first wife, Margaret "Peg" (Snyder). John was a Patent Attorney at Battelle Memorial Institute and moved up to VP of Research and Development, which took him all over the world in his travels. He was with Battelle for almost 30 years before beginning his private practice as Patent Trademark Attorney at Kegler, Brown, Hill, & Rittler until retirement at 79. He served as President of Columbus Rotary and was a member of the Navy League. John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a great story teller and loved to sail and travel. He never met a stranger, lived an inquisitive life, loved and was loved by many. He will be deeply missed. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret "Peg". He is survived by wife, Betty; son, Jim (Patty) Gray; daughter, Linda (Gary) Reed; grandsons, John, Jim, and Will Gray; extended family and friends. A Memorial Service will begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger RD., Columbus, OH 43221, where the family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Rev.
