Neikirk John Pennell "Pen" Neikirk, age 78, died March 26, 2014. Pen graduated from Gettysburg College and from the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Gettysburg, PA. He was ordained and called to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Upper Arlington as assistant pastor and served until 1964 when he was called to St. John's Lutheran Church, Stony Ridge, OH. After eight years as pastor, he returned as the senior pastor at Holy Trinity in Upper Arlington where he served until 1984. In 1987 Pen received a Master's Degree in Labor Relations and Human Resource Management from The Ohio State University. An avid Buckeye, reader and golfer, he also loved to cook and taught numerous gourmet cooking classes in Columbus. After moving to The Villages, FL, Pen joined the Ohio State Club and also discovered a talent for poetry writing. Pen also enjoyed playing the violin as well as poker and cribbage with his many friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy; four step-children; Kathleen, Ann, Susan and Stephen; seven step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; two sons by a previous marriage, Paul and Andrew; as well as his sister, Nancy Coleman also survive Pen. A Memorial Mass will be held May 20 at 11 a.m. at the St. Thomas Moore Newman Center, 64 W. Lane Avenue, Columbus, OH 43201. Memorial donations in his memory to: St. Thomas Moore Newman Center.
