Knox John W. "Jack" Knox, of Pompano Beach, FL, formerly of Gahanna, Ohio, died July 22, 2013. He served as a tail gunner in the 8th Air Force and was a POW in Germany in WWII, receiving a Purple Heart and French Cross for his service. Since retiring from the Ohio Dept. of Taxation, he has resided in Florida. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Cecilia "Dede"; daughter, Nancy Mundorf (Mike); sons, Gary (Becky) and Mike (Lois); and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Memorial service at John Knox Village Aug. 12, at 10 a.m., preceded by visitation at 9:30 a.m. Burial at 1 p.m. at South Florida National VA Cemetery. Donations to the Museum of the Mighty 8th Air Force, PO Box 1992, Savannah, GA 31402.
