Yvonne was born May 9, 1936 to the late Elmer and Estelle Surtman of Columbus, OH. She graduated from Columbus North High School in 1953. A gifted athlete, Yvonne excelled at dance, golf, tennis and duplicate bridge. Yvonne was a fierce competitor in all her activities. Unable to admit she lost, she could only say she didn't win. She always said it was a complicated way to live, but she enjoyed each place and the friends there. Into her later years, she remained a North High polar bear and an Ohio State Buckeye. An avid fan of Woody Hayes, she admitted that she shared some of his controversial traits. Yvonne was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She was a member of Worthington Hills Country Club; Imperial Golf Club, Naples FL; and Clear Springs Golf Club, Ontario Canada. A member of Kappa Kappa Gamma at OSU, she belonged to the United States Tennis Association and American Contract Bridge League. She was an active 40-year member of Grace Polaris Church.
