Gardner Leslie Paula Gardner, a long-time resident of Sebastopol, California, passed away on May 20, 2014 in Davis, CA. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, was a member of First Community Church and participated in many programs at Camp Akita. Leslie graduated from Upper Arlington High School (1971) and Ohio State University School of Music (1977). She received a masters degree from Union University (CA) in Herbal Studies. Leslie was an exceptional mother, a professional singer, a piano teacher, an herbalist and a master gardener, and an important figure in local sustainable and community supported agriculture in Sonoma County. She wrote Life in the Medicine (2008) and co-wrote and Grow It, Heal It, (2012). Leslie was predeceased by her mother Ruth Sieker Gardner and is survived by her daughter, Diana Gustafson; former husband, Richard Gustafson; her father, Robert Gardner, Sr.; sister, Lorianne Gardner (David) Loveless; brothers, Stephen (Elizabeth) Gardner, Robert (Sherry) Gardner Jr.; stepson, Josh Mathieson; former husband, Scott Mathieson; and by her devoted partner, Christopher Hobbs; his son, Ken; and many other loved ones and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 11 a.m. at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd., Marblecliff, Ohio. A reception in FCC's Brownlee Hall will follow the service. Contributions may be made to the First Community Church Foundation.
