Marjorie (Eckstein) Layne Obituary
Layne Marjorie (Eckstein) Layne, 84, longtime Upper Arlington resident, died Saturday, January 26, 2013. She was born and raised in Mansfield, Ohio, the daughter to the late Fred and Nellie Eckstein. She was a graduate of The Ohio State University in Fine Arts. Marjorie attended First Community Church and was active in Beaux Arts and Art Nine. She volunteered at Riverside Methodist Hospital where she was known as the "Cookie Lady". In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Herschel and sister Marilyn Eckstein. Marjorie will be missed by her loving sons, Bruce (Vicki) Layne of Wheaton, Ill. and Steven M. Layne of Hilliard, Ohio; grandchildren, Jeffrey Layne, Wheaton, Ill., Elizabeth (Andy) Blackmer and great-grandson, Joshua of Cherry Valley, Ill. Family will receive friends Friday, February 1, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. and also Saturday, February 2, 2013 from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10 a.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, OH. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Mansfield Memorial Park in Mansfield, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marjorie's memory to the of Central Ohio, 1379 Dublin Rd., Columbus, OH 43215 or the , Franklin Co. Unit, 5555 Frantz Rd., Dublin, OH 43017.
