Mary MacFarland Saxe DeVennish Obituary
DeVennish Mary MacFarland Saxe "Polly" DeVennish, 89, passed away peacefully at Kobacker House on Sunday, March 17, 2013. She was born on August 23, 1923 in Mansfield, OH to the late Arthur and Winona Saxe. She was an elementary school teacher with Columbus Public Schools for 17 years. Polly was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church. She was an accomplished artist and loved to travel and play golf with her husband Joseph who preceded her in death last year. She is also preceded in death by her son Joseph Briggs DeVennish, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Julia DeVennish and Suzanne DeVennish Burke (Rob); two granddaughters, Julia MacFarland Burke and Emily McNair Burke. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Upper Arlington and from 9-10 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 at the First Congregational Church, 444 East Broad St., Columbus, where the funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2013. Rev. Timothy Ahrens officiating. Interment at Green Lawn Cemetery. Contributions in Polly's memory may be made to the Joseph B. DeVennish, Jr. Memorial Fund at the Columbus Academy, 4300 Cherry Bottom Rd., Gahanna, OH 43230 or HomeReach Hospice, c/o OhioHealth Foundation, 180 E.
