Leyshon Melba L. Leyshon died peacefully on December 26, 2013. Born February 24, 1950 to John and Elizabeth Leyshon. Melba is survived by her brother, Mike Leyshon (Chris). Melba was a life-long Columbus resident, living most of her adult life as a loyal neighbor to the people of Clintonville. She graduated from North High School in 1968 and is a proud graduate of The Ohio State University (OSU) as well as a life-long member of the OSU Alumni Association (O-H!). Melba's diverse skillset lead her down a number of paths throughout her professional career guiding her from the publishing and software industries to a position at her beloved alma mater, OSU. Melba or "Geeka," will forever be remembered as a loving mother to her cats, Zantu and the late, Zanzabar; an active volunteer in the Clintonville community; a close friend and neighbor to many; and above all, a sister and aunt. Melba's greatest legacy is serving as what can only be described as a third parent to her nephews, Mike Leyshon (Jeannine) and Scott Leyshon (Chrissy), niece, Amy Ferguson (John): four great nieces, and two great nephews. Whether it was skiing, ice-skating, traveling, or even a trip to the Rose Bowl in 1997, she was always there to ensure they were taken care of, and by most estimates, spoiled beyond belief. Friends may call at SOUTHWICK-GOOD & FORTKAMP FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3100 N. High St. on Monday, Dec. 30th, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Rev. David Ziegel, officiating.
