Ryan, OP Dominican Sister of Peace Sr. Michele Ryan, OP, died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH, on Saturday, April 5, 2014. She was born in New York, NY, on October 10, 1924. Sr. Michele was preceded in death by her parents Bryan and Anna (O'Reilly) Ryan and a brother Bernard. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Elaine Ryan of Raleigh, NC; a niece, Michele; and a nephew, Thomas. Sister entered the Novitiate of the former Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs (now Dominican Sisters of Peace) in Columbus in 1943 and made her Profession of Vows in 1945. Sr. Michele earned a BA from St. Mary of the Springs College (now Ohio Dominican University) and an MA from the University of Notre Dame. In the Columbus Diocese she taught English and Spanish at Rosecrans HS (1960-61) and Watterson HS (1962-65). Sr. Michele also taught in other schools in Ohio, and in Connecticut, New York, and Pennsylvania. Most of Sr. Michele's later years were spent in New Haven, CT where she taught at St. Mary HS (1965-1974). She then became part of the Administrative Office Staff at Albertus Magnus College and later served as special assistant to the President's office until 2010 when she came to Mohun Health Care Center. Reception of the Body will take place at the Columbus Motherhouse on Tuesday, April 8, at 3 p.m. Evening Prayer of Office for the Dead will be held at 4:45 p.m. with viewing continuing until 7 p.m. The funeral liturgy will be on Wednesday, April 9, at 9 a.m. followed by burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery by EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME.
