Trainer Robert H. Trainer, age 92, of Waverly, Ohio, died Wednesday evening, October 23, 2013 in Waverly. He was born May 19, 1921 in Pike County, a son of the late John James Trainer and Flossie Mae Dixon Trainer. Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth McAllister Trainer; daughter, Ann Marie Trainer Spicer and her husband, Don; two grandchildren, Justin Spicer and Jackie Spicer; and one great granddaughter, Ava Marie Spicer. He is also survived by brother-in-law, J. Earl McAllister of Piketon, Ohio; sister-in-law, Mary McAllister Radford of Waverly, Ohio; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother John Sherman Trainer. Bob was owner of the former Trainer Jewelers, was a WWII Army veteran, served 16 years on Waverly City Council, 12 years as a Pike County Commissioner, and over 50 years as an Evergreen Union Cemetery trustee. He was an active member of the Waverly First Baptist Church, Waverly Retail Merchants, Masonic Lodge, International Order of Odd Fellows, Pike County Fish and Game, and the Pike County Democratic Club. Visiting hours are Saturday, October 26, 2013, from 4-8 p.m. at BOTKIN FUNERAL HOME in Waverly with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home with Pastors, Greg Schaffer and Gary Pack officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Evergreen Union Cemetery with military graveside service by American Legion Merritt Post #142 of Waverly.
