Williamson Robert Lee Williamson, 87, Lakeland, Florida, passed away, as a result of heart failure, Wednesday, February 6, 2013. Born August 7, 1925 in East Columbus, Ohio, Mr. Williamson moved to Lakeland in 1990 from Merritt Island. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army, where he served in the 4th Infantry Division in the European Theater during World War II. Mr. Williamson was a member of the Purple Hearts Association, Battle of the Bulge Association and Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Williamson was the recipient of four purple hearts and numerous other medals. He was a catholic. He was preceded in death by his great granddaughter Sarah Castle. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Frances Williamson; son, Ron (Sandy) Williamson; sister, Florence (Don) Clickenger; brother, Fred Williamson; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service was conducted, with military honors, Monday, February 11, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Lakeland Memorial Gardens, in Lakeland, FL.
