Roger Alan Holstein Obituary
Holstein Roger Alan Holstein, age 77, of Columbus, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Roger is preceded in death by his parents Paul J. (Bud) Holstein and Idabelle Holstein. Roger is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Susie; children, Carlotta (Bill) McLean and Duane (Denise) Holstein; grandchildren, Josh (Kate) Holstein, Allison and Kristina McLean, and Victoria and Cassandra Holstein; great grandchild, Chandler; brothers, Richard Holstein and Andy (Sue) Holstein; many nieces, nephews, and an abundance of lifelong friends. Roger graduated from Bexley High School in 1954. Immediately following, he attended Miami University and The Ohio State University. Roger began his role as president of The Superior Die Tool & Machine Company in 1965. He continued his dedicated service with Superior throughout his life and was tremendously respected by all of his fellow employees. He served as member of The Ohio State University Presidents Club. He and his wife Susie were also members of the Columbus Country Club. Throughout his life Roger was a valued philanthropist serving many organizations in the Columbus area. He worked closely with the Columbus Area Red Cross, The Ohio State University and the Marion Franklin School District. First and foremost Roger was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and an impressive Buckeye Football historian. He enjoyed boating at Lake Erie, bowling and golfing. Roger was a tremendously kind hearted man who touched the lives of many. His devout patriotism was well represented by his most admired animal, the American Bald Eagle. Like the American Bald Eagle, Roger soared in business and in life. Roger wants us all to never forget 9/11. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014 at SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL, 229 E. State St., where family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Columbus Area Red Cross. To share memories or condolences, please visit www.schoedinger.com.
