Ronald Gehrisch Obituary
GEHRISCH Ronald Gehrisch, 79, of Galion, died Sunday, November 18, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. Born July 6, 1933 in Galion, he was the son of the late John and Mabel (Moore) Gehrisch. He was preceded in death on January 31, 2004 by his wife, Rita (McLaughlin) Gehrisch whom he married on Dec. 31, 1980. Ron was a graduate of Galion High School in 1951 and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his military service he was a brick mason. He moved to Florida and became a State Certified Contractor and built commercial buildings including banks and restaurants. Ron then moved back to Columbus in the 1990's where he built the Compuserv building. He moved back to Galion six months ago to be near his family. When he retired his sons made him a reproduction civil war cannon, which he enjoyed shooting at civic events and special occasions. He also loved spending time with his family. He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jeff and Sue Gehrisch and Matt and Regina Gehrisch, all of Galion and Chris Gehrisch of Vista, Calif.; six grandchildren, Krysten, Amanda and Josh Gehrisch of Galion, Rhonda (Matthew) Hurm, Jennifer Gehrisch and Jackie (Rhy) Thornton, all of Calif.; three great-grandchildren, Logan Jeffrey Gehrisch, Lace Campbell and Everett Thornton; and one brother, Jim Gehrisch of Crestline. He was preceded in death by one brother John Gehrisch and his first wife Joyce (Logan) Gehrisch. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at RICHARDSON-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME in Galion. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 N. High St., Lewis Center, Ohio, where full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Delaware County Veteran's associations.
